Happy Birthday, Haytor !
      #5534814 - 11/23/12 03:21 AM

Congratulations to Haytor, (Tom) on having made 58 trips around the Sun while Saturn, the father of Jupiter, (he had a large family like yours), has completed it only twice !

On this day too, (and just for information, you understand),

Boris Karloff wsa born, (1887), Dr. Hawley Harvey Crippen was hanged (1910) -- (no fun day for him !) and the first Dr. Who was televised in 1963 !

Have a great day, Tom, and may those grey, Smethwick skies clear soon !

Best wishes,
Tel

Many thanks again for your kind thought Haseeb. Will eat it later with a virtual pint of beer in my other hand.

Hi Tom,

Pleased you've had a good Birthday. Makes getting older worth while...I think

Re the weather, I've just been out hoping to open the Obs (the sky is wall to wall clear) only to find that the wind is too strong for observing. As I've said to Tony on another thread, thats the second time this week.

Never mind eh.

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Regards. Peter.

The trouble is, like my birthday cake, is that if you have it large enough to fit 54 candles on it, it makes the cake so large that you can't lift it!

Hi Tom,

Well, I guess I was comparing your 58 to my (almost) 73. I'll be 73 Dec 29 (I think - don't celebrate the danged things much anymore). Oh, and I'm always telling folks NOT to tell me I'm only as old as I feel!!

Hi Skip, I have a question: Do you feel any different now when compared to 10 years back. Seriously, that point made by Tom ( as old as he / she feels ) got me thinking as I keep hearing this a lot.

Hi Haseeb,

I woke up this morning feeling like a sixteen year old. Sad part is, I did'nt find one.

Seriously, I'm 70 and feel very good. I think its a state of mind as much as anything else. You either sit around worrying about it, or get on with living and enjoying your life. The end result is the same for all, so to me, its a no brainer.

Regards. Peter.

Given Peter`s and Skips repsonse Haseeb,i guess now at just 58 i have nothing to complain about .

No, instead of worrying about getting older, i think i will just try and figure out the meaning of life, i believe the answer to that question is 42

Best regards,

Tom.

It's funny how the mind works. Sometimes I act and feel like a 25 year old , sometimes a 15 year old , I don't think I've ever acted my age, but my body is constantly reminding me !

Yeah, I never act my age either. At least I think that's the case. What age am I supposed to act? At my age, I just let it happen! If the folks around me don't like it, they'll get over it.

Haseeb, in a serious vein, I started feeling the age thing at around 50. You know, hurting a little in the mornings and a few other things that shouldn't be mentioned on an open forum. It has progressed somewhat since then, but not to the point where I just want to lie down and die! In fact, I feel pretty well most of the time. The thing is, I don't think you notice the age thing creeping up on you so much. But when you look back, you can tell it's been happening. For example, when I was 50, I was running a couple of miles a day and working out regularly. Still work out but not as vigorously and I stopped running about 10 years ago. The old back ain't what she used to be so I pay lots of attention to that.

So, life doesn't end at 50, but it starts downhill about then.

Tom,

It's not the answer you need to figure out (yes, it is indeed 42) - it's the question!

Art

PS

Personally, I think it is 42 because Douglas Adams was a big cricket fan (also remember the planet Krikkit?) and these links may explain...

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_rules_are_in_cricket and http://hitchhikers.wikia.com/wiki/Krikkit

A

PPS

Personally Skip, I feel that it was downhill for me after I hit 30 a long slow decline until 40, then the hill suddenly got a heck of a lot steeper!
