Finderscope is on its way. One slight hitch. I thought I had a white one. Unfortunately, the only two extras I had were both gray...
Nothing a little refrigerator paint won't cure.
Like others have mentioned, it'll be fun to see pics. Like maybe the boy at the eyepiece...

Hi other Keith and Figaro!
The only difference between the 12TE(60mm- 800mm f/l) and 9TE-0(60mm- 710mm) and 9TE-5(60mm- 700mm) is optical. The alt-azimuth mounts have altitude adjusters and are all the same except that the 12TE has an alt-azimuth flex cable, and the 9TE-0 would fit in to that cradle .His fork mount problems will be solved .Actually the 12TE mount and tripod would be a better set up for his scope because the legs are probably more stable. Hope he reconsiders his decision and keep the scope. Clear Skies,Gary
Hello Gary and Figaro,
Could one or both of you post a picture of your focuser label. I would like to know what the REG NO is for the 9TE-0 Circle K scope. I assuming there is one on the bottom line, but would like to confirm. This would help establish the year that this model was offered along side the more common 9TE-5 model.

Hello guys, I answered my own question, the REG NO on your 9TE-0 scopes should be 09236. I found an older post from John Siple when he was doing his research on this model. That tells me based on the REG NO this scope was sold for the model year beginning in 1970 though it could have been late 1969 depending when Tasco started selling the model in the US.
BTW a 9TE-0 scope was sold on Amart with a 14TE mount in the auctions a couple of days ago in case anyone missed it. Believe this was the scope that John Siple owned.
This scope is not listed in the 1968 thru 1971 sales catalogs or fold out blue/white brochures I've seen. I have no idea what the story was on this model.

Yes this instrument seems to be an enigma.I do remember reading about it being a possible early version of the TASCO 9TE-5,noting that its mount and legs are the same. I believe that the first 9TE number 0 was made for TASCO by KENKO(Pre-Vixen),with the 9TE-5 later made by TOWA.I will check the number on mine when I get in. Gary

Awesome Darrel. I got my package to FedEx in time this afternoon that they say it will arrive tomorrow. Not bad for 3 day ground delivery. I understand it has something to do with Sean being just 100 miles north of me.
Sean,
Last night in my haste I packed the wrong eyepiece into the case for you. So the Nippon Kogaku 18mm orthoscopic has to come back!... just kidding! (inside joke) but I packed a chewed on 21mm eyepiece that I didn't intend for you. Literally dog chewed on and I'm sorry for the mistake. I am sending you a 20mm from I don't remember which scope but looking into my 1/4 mile away neighbors window tonight I can attest that the optics are way sharp! Hey it was cloudy and foggy here, what else could I do to test it?
Anyway the eyepiece will be coming by mail.

And you might want to change your thread title to "The best way to keep a 9te-0 telescope?"
