Another great night of observing...Something to really be thankful for..3 nights in a row! Started out with the Lunar "X" and got great shots as well and shared with neighbors. The the other night I see a pattern of a Sword start to form on one of the crater's floor.
And then the binoviewers come out with jaw dropping views of the moon. Then after staring at this beauty I was rewarded for the first time ever.....a balloon drifts in front of the moon! I have seen planes cross the moons disc many times, but never a hot air balloon with the basket and drop lines. WOW, what a sight, must have been a weather balloon ya think? Anyway, it was way cool:)
Oh an all three night had very good seeing as the Belts on Jupiter were very nice to see and the double star cluster still amazes me.
Yep, besides family and great food, football and the stars I'm a very thankful soul

Bob, that observing session is what keeps us in astronomy! Thanks for sharing; especially about the balloon passing the moon. That would be great to see!

Yes definitely a night to be thankful!
Thanks for the report. And seeing the weather balloon must have been just awesome!
We all have to take advantage of those clear nights when we can. Looks like rain and snow up here in NH for the next 2 nights. But I got out last night and so glad I did!
I'll just sit by the fire read some astronomy books and have a drink tonight! Nothing wrong with that! Oh and of course cruise the threads of Cloudy Nights! Almost done with Carl Sagan's Cosmos! Just 2 more chapters to go.

Shoulda put the Borg cube there instead; then I would've also taken care of the debate going on in another forum about the Mayan Calendar ending in a few weeks ...
