Jupiter & NEB rifting from Arizona 23Nov2012
      #5536407 - 11/23/12 10:49 PM Attachment (44 downloads)

The NEB is showing considerable rifting at this aspect, actually a little earlier would have been a better view. Around CM2 270 (about 40 minutes before this) would give a great view of some of the most complex rifting you will see. Should have started earlier as seeing went downhill fast after the first RGB sequence which this is an image of.

Had difficulty getting WInJupos to align this set, so this was a manual align in MaximDL. Its the best compromise I could find between the poles and equatorial region.

Captured with a Flea3 using FireCapture 2.1. This is a 1.2X image as captured with North up.

Comments or questions welcome. Thanks for looking!

Glenn

That's a beauty, Glenn. Color and detail are both very well done.

Glenn, Gorgeous shot! Excellent detail and color. 1:21am was right about when I packed it in from degraded seeing and being cold. Thanks for posting

Regards,
Steve

Nice work, Glenn. I was noticing the rifts the other night near the CM (270) you suggest. Here's a link to an image with CM=276 about 40 minutes before yours when Jupiter was at about 72 degrees elevation here.

Glenn this photo is yet another example of how good seeing and an imager with knowledge and skill can stand up to the challenges presented by Jupiter. Your collimation must be spot on to produce the near perfect oval shape just inside the boundary of the south polar region.
