Well it's taken me some time to get around to these but I finally had a go at processing my Jupiter images from Thanksgiving... Seeing was mostly good, but it deteriorated toward the end so I lost 3 sets.
This image is comprised of 7 RGB sets taken over about 40 minutes. AVIs were stacked using AVIStack and derotated in WinJUPOS for alignment.
Glad I managed to get some detail on Io.
I still think something is a little off... maybe my channel focus isn't quite right. I'll have to work on that.
Anyway, without further ado... for your entertainment, criticism and amusement, here is Jupiter and Io from 11-21-12. Photographed using a Flea3, C14, 2x shorty barlow and Astronomik RGB filter set.
Cheers

Hi Tim - an impressive image!
You say you think the individual channel focusing might've been a tad off and I presume you're referring to the "smearing" of the detail which in other ways is (as I just said! ) "impressive."
Maybe that's WinJupos though..? - you'll get something similar when better and lesser quality images are combined together.....it'd be interesting to see you post your single best rgb capture to compare end-results? And I'm interested in why you prefer Avistack over AS!2?
Nevertheless, very good!

Thanks guys
Darryl: I'm working on the individual RGBs right now. Might try a different combination when I get them done. I ran a set thru AS2! and didn't like the way it turned out. Hence AVIStack. I'm also running a set using AS2! with different settings now. Hopefully I'll have something better soon...
You might be right about the WinJUPOS combo. The subs looked ok... so maybe the combo was off a bit. Still working on things... it's only been 3 days after all

Tim, excellent image! Io detail looks great. AS2! alignment will beat Avistack hands down. Thanks for posting

Well I couldn't get an image that I thought was any better with the reprocessed images. But I did put together a short animation with the R channels. Gives an impression of the quality of the red. Not sure why I can't get a good colour image. Maybe I'm just trying to hard... I'll give it another go in a few days. Time to take a break...

Tim I'm intrigued by how the first image shows a pattern that resembles two links joined together in an iron chain (referring to the GRS wake directly adjacent the GRS). Any focus good enough to show that I see as a mark of success!
