I've had this one on my HD since spring, so figured it was time to get around to processing. I don't do so many galaxies, so spent some time trying to get the processing right. It's L(42x10m)RGB(12x5m ea) with Ha(10x10m) blended with the red to highlight the Ha regions in the galaxy.
As always comments and suggestions for improvement appreciated. ...Keith

Don't be so modest! This is a toughie and you've done pretty well. With the luminance being 2x your RGB, it looks like the star sizes are slightly mismatched, giving small halos on the brightest stars. I get that sometimes...sometimes I fix it, using MorphologicTransform in PI to match them across channels.
I try to image this once in a while, but it takes an above average sky to get reasonable results.

Thanks Steve! I did find it a challenge to process with the right combination of stretching, sharpening and contrast adjustment, and color balancing. And you are correct -- getting the star sizes to match in LRGB can also be a challenge so thanks for the tip. I don't have PI -- I'm pretty happy with my workflow and am daunted by learning another piece of software (I've looked at the website tutorials and it can't say it looks all that user friendly). However, I see the amazing things people are able to do with it and still think about fitting it into my workflow. I'll add your star tip to the PI "plus" column. ...Keith

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I assumed that the challenges and limitations I faced in processing were more due to my own skill level, so I didn't realize that this has a reputation of being a difficult target. I feel much better about the end product. Glad I finally went back to process it. ...Keith
