Orion TeleTrak AZ-G and slipping altitude clutch

My mount seems to be not holding anywhere near it's advertized weight limit anymore. It used to be pretty good but lately seems to be slipping. Question is this, is there a way to tighten it a bit, I have attempted to remove the back of the mount to investigate but could not completely remove it, seemed to hang up on the bottom and I was cautious about breaking the plastic shell.
Any thoughts/advice/
