My California finished!
      #5540409 - 11/26/12 02:22 PM

So finally finished my first (and possibly last!) mosaic! After finishing the SII I decided to bin the OIII since there was very little showing at all after 15 minute subs. I elected to do a modified Hubble and went for a dustier rendition. All told just a bit over 48 hours over 7 1/2 nights over nearly a month! Pretty happy with it overall.

Thanks for the kind words! I'll likely stick to my native FOV for a while now!

Looks good Warren!

Last mosaic? Got that large sensor camera ordered!

When I think of the time spent processing these ~3MB images...bigger files terrify me!

Steve

How do you align the shots over different days?

I know what you mean, when I think of trying to handle subs that are as big as this mosaic I start to shake!

Thanks Robert!

Thanks Chris!

Nebulosity has a feature where I load an imaging from a previous night and by holding down Ctrl and right click with your cursor on a star you can insert a Cross on up to three stars. Those Crosses stay in the same place as you take new images, so I take a trial image of say up to 1 minute and then adjust the camera and the scope so those same three stars match up with the crosses I have put on the screen. Below is a screen capture of what it looks like.

it's not as hard as you might think. Actually... it gives you a lot more room to cover your mistakes. In my case; it's the weight of the camera that is the challenge!

I love that FOV for this object Robert! I had wanted to go out further but didn't want to spend the rest of the winter just shooting this one area!

A very deep image and sometimes it takes a long time to capture an object like this. Good work.
