Walking a dog, carrying a brass scope in AZ? new
      #5542416 - 11/27/12 04:24 PM

I stopped for gas in AZ Saturday around Ash Fork AZ, west of Flagstaff. As I was getting back on the 40 I saw a guy walking his dog and carrying a rather long old brass refractor on his shoulder.

Just thought it'd be worth posting it and see if it was someone here.

Well, sorta, big ones with big teeth, that don't know me yet.

It was weird though. The guy looked really familiar.

Well, I just wouldn't be able to do that! I probably would have made some smart a## comment about the dog taking his scope out and making the human carry it to break the ice and start an conversation.
I've found that I have nowhere to be in such a hurry that I can't take the time to at least acknowledge another astronomer/stargazer, there seem to be so few of us percentage-wise.

It was Ken Fulton the Lighthearted Astronomer lol. Just check out the cover of his classic book by the same name....

Maybe so, but I would never let it interfere with my canine bonding rituals...
