This is actually a crop from the image I took back on the 14th, just wanted to see how much of this I could get to come out. I think it went pretty well considering this is only about 25% of the entire image. Canon XS stock, Tokina Nikon mount 70-210 SD manual focus lens with EOS adapter Piggybacked on LX3 unguided 185 frames @ 1:00 over 3 nights, Stacked in DSS, used Drizzle, then Binned in Startools to try and bring down the noise, still a bit noisy. Processed in Startools.

Another nice one Shawn I'd love to see the widefield uncropped... I just love the hanging in space look they give.

Thanks Jim! The full frame was a struggle, well more of a huge struggle, I still ain't happy with it. It has the Horsehead in it and my camera is not modded, so I ended up with a lot of red trying to get it to stand out. You can see all the processing versions here: http://www.astrobin.com/24783/E/?mod=

Thank you for the kind comments. Thomas, it's ironic you say that, the Observahut was an inspiration to me and I built something very similiar.

Glad to hear. I still love my movable hut - the wooden pier needs to go but otherwise it has served me VERY well.
Back on topic: Since I currently lack an autoguider and laptop I will attempt to use my DSLR and lens in a very similar way and take some wide shots. I like how the horsehead came out in your picture so I'll probably start with Orion as well . Can't wait for the moon to be "gone".

Thanks! This is the one image I can't stop fussing with, I really thought the dusty stuff would come out with that many exposures, I am learning, but still not quite there...

You need longer exposures to get the dust to show up
