Meade DS-16 mirror not 16"...
      #5546446 - 11/29/12 11:28 PM

I recently purchased an old Meade DS-16. Remembering the horror and months of therapy that were required when I discovered that my Hardin Optical DSH-10's primary mirror was ONLY 9-3/4" INSTEAD of 10", I cautiously measured my "new" DS-16's primary... 16-3/16" ! YAY! This means that I went from having ~2.56x the light grasp of the 10" that I now have to having ~2.62x. I'm sure I'll notice that when I'm looking at the moon...

What about the light loss from the clips?

Isn't it nice how stuff like that seems to work out in the end?

Are you sure that extra isn't the Turned down edge?

I don't turn down extra aperture...

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. It needs some work.

I had the same problem with a few Z10's that I owned. 250mm instead of 254mm. Hardin and Zhumell are built by GSO. But then on the other side my 1976 Coulter 14.25" mirror is actually 14.375" with a full 2" thick glass. Its nice to know we used to get "more" than what we paid for!!! Clear&Darks.
