Better pair of eyepieces for planets? new

I'm using a pair of Burgess Optical 12mm WA eyepieces for viewing planets. They work well. I don't wear glasses and these are comfortable for me.

I wonder if there might be any others in the 12-13mm FL that would be better (sharper, brighter, less scatter) for planets? Anyone use them and compare them to others? I'd be getting ~254x and ~339x magnification with them in my Orion binoviewer.

The GSO 15mm Superviews, binoview well. Would give you a wider and sharper view.

+1 for the Superviews. Lots of bang for bucks...as the saying goes.
If you got lots of cash then Denk 14's one of the best eyepieces I've tried, great contrast and sharp to the edge.

A little too close in focal length to my pair of ES 16 though.

The Superviews might be similar to the BO 12mm WA eyepieces I have. The lens grouping and number of lens is the same.

I use a pair of Brandon 12mm in my binos. They work well and are incredibly sharp.

I also have a pair of Zeiss Jena 12.5 orthos. They also work great, but are very hard to find - and they are a bit on the expensive side now.

... and if one were looking for an 'Ortho' type of EP, that is to say a non-widefield, the standard & ubiquitous 'Circle-T' Orthos (a.k.a. 'University Optics') are usually pretty easy to come by, new or used, and at down-to-earth pricing.

Otherwise, i've been reading lately that these are VERY similar to the Pentax 'XF' series EPs... and at $60 a pop, half the price of a used XF, i'd be sorely tempted to try a set!

I have a couple pairs of Plossls - TV and GSO's that I really like with binoviewing. 20mm seem to be "a sweet spot" IMO. I also use Sterling plossls, but not for planetary as they elongate the planet at the edge of field.

http://www.kkohki.com/English/kkohkiparts.html These are the exact same 12.5mm ortho eyepieces I use to see albedo features on Ganymede at 815x. Of course I'm cheating using a 10" refractor with WO's binos! You can't buy better.

Duh well hell yes! All I gotta' do while I wait for the new lens is rebuild my concrete block walled observatory to accomodate it. Of course that means a new roof system too. Either that or go for a 11"-12" RFT! Because folded ain't a gonna' happen!
