I hope it was a happy day, Tom -- my best wishes for many more, together with good health so that you can enjoy them, and clear skies (and light winds !) to add to the fun !

Hi Tom,
Well, I guess I was comparing your 58 to my (almost) 73. I'll be 73 Dec 29 (I think - don't celebrate the danged things much anymore). Oh, and I'm always telling folks NOT to tell me I'm only as old as I feel!!

Hi Skip, I have a question: Do you feel any different now when compared to 10 years back. Seriously, that point made by Tom ( as old as he / she feels ) got me thinking as I keep hearing this a lot.

Hi Haseeb,
I woke up this morning feeling like a sixteen year old. Sad part is, I did'nt find one.
Seriously, I'm 70 and feel very good. I think its a state of mind as much as anything else. You either sit around worrying about it, or get on with living and enjoying your life. The end result is the same for all, so to me, its a no brainer.
Regards. Peter.

Given Peter`s and Skips repsonse Haseeb,i guess now at just 58 i have nothing to complain about .
No, instead of worrying about getting older, i think i will just try and figure out the meaning of life, i believe the answer to that question is 42
Best regards,
Tom.

It's funny how the mind works. Sometimes I act and feel like a 25 year old , sometimes a 15 year old , I don't think I've ever acted my age, but my body is constantly reminding me !

Yeah, I never act my age either. At least I think that's the case. What age am I supposed to act? At my age, I just let it happen! If the folks around me don't like it, they'll get over it.
Haseeb, in a serious vein, I started feeling the age thing at around 50. You know, hurting a little in the mornings and a few other things that shouldn't be mentioned on an open forum. It has progressed somewhat since then, but not to the point where I just want to lie down and die! In fact, I feel pretty well most of the time. The thing is, I don't think you notice the age thing creeping up on you so much. But when you look back, you can tell it's been happening. For example, when I was 50, I was running a couple of miles a day and working out regularly. Still work out but not as vigorously and I stopped running about 10 years ago. The old back ain't what she used to be so I pay lots of attention to that.
So, life doesn't end at 50, but it starts downhill about then.

Tom,
It's not the answer you need to figure out (yes, it is indeed 42) - it's the question!
Art
PS
Personally, I think it is 42 because Douglas Adams was a big cricket fan (also remember the planet Krikkit?) and these links may explain...

Personally Skip, I feel that it was downhill for me after I hit 30 a long slow decline until 40, then the hill suddenly got a heck of a lot steeper!

Come to think of it, Art, my peak may have been at 16 ! And, as you say, the downhill grade sure gets steeper as we go along.
