I have just purchased a DM-4 with 4k encoders that was set up for Sky commander. Is there anything that needs to be done so that I can use my Argo navis computer with it?

Just set up your Argo Navis encoder settings the same.
I use a small level for horizontal reference on the DM-4.
The Argo Navis wants the level start before going to
star alignment.

Using the default settings, the Argo does indeed need a reference mark (or level), but if you turn the "auto adjust" feature "on", just a rough level position (eyeballing the level is fine).
I use my Argo with a DM6 without any initial levelling effort.
TomPeters at Discmounts once sent me a text document "Setting up the Argo Navis up for DiscMounts" written by Gary Kopff ar Wildcard Innovations (Argo Navis), explaining all this (the "auto adjust" feature) in slightly different terms than those used in the Argo manual. I don't think the CN rules allow me to post the file here without permission, but I'm sure neither Tom nor Gary will mind at all if I sent it to you by e-mail. PM me your e-mail address, and I can sent you the file, if you would like to have it.
