It can handle the load, but to run a scope that has to include counterweights + head as well. That limits the weight greatly. It's more like 5kg for the scope itself.
Plus you have the limits of tracking, as you have limited autoguiding capability, and the ability to align with the pole is not the greatest. Running a long focal length scope on something like this is just not what it is designed for.
However, the fact that it is rated higher than you'd ever need means that you don't have to worry too much about weight being a factor. With an Astrotrac, your concern is more what focal length you can use before the tracking is a problem.
There's no way it replaces a good GEM for anything over ~400mm or so.

ahhh ok. I was a bit incredulous thinking it had more weight capacity than my AP600 (!) so the 15kg is including counterweights.
