There has been some discussion/speculation recently about the availability of various Kasai Japanese eyepieces on CN. The official word from Kasai, shared with dealers late yesterday, is as follows:
"Although it took time to settle down the production arrangement, everything seems to be going smoothly now. Following Orthos will be available middle of December - OR5/OR7/OR9/OR12. OR6/OR18 will be available sometime next year. All APs except 05 are available. AP05 will be next year. So please stop accepting order for OR6, OR18 and AP05 for a while.
EWV32 is now available. But no KASAI name printed on eyepiece. " Please note that the above is independent of what we or other Kasai dealers might have in stock now or in the near future.

Thank You for posting.
I don't follow these threads too closely, does this mean that they're not ending production on KO's in the forseeable future?

Thanks Manish, as soon as you have those orthos in stock, I plan on ordering bino pairs. Hopefully it will be soon!

Thanks for the update Manish, I'd feared these and the KK's (Circle-T volcanoes) were disappearing for good. Glad to hear at least the HD's are still going to be made.

The KKs indeed are! Production has ended, and what we and other dealers around the world have left are the last of this clan. This news came out a couple of weeks ago, and there's been a big run-up on these in Japan, pretty much wiping out our chances of getting more.

Too bad but we all have the right to retire. My full set of UO VTs just became more precious.

Wow I am floored at the 32mm being over 400.00. I am really kicking myself for not buying one of those and the matching 25mm. I wonder what I could get for my 40mm I bought so many years ago....

Don't know Preston, but like you I was always attracted to that 32mm, years back when UO sold it as the 32Mk80 at around the $200-300 range. But nowadays with better cheaper choices like my 36mm Hyperion, or an ES30, or others, that Kasai 32mm just isn't as appealing.

Steve, I also had the 32mm 60 degree 2in Konig that UO sold that was made by the Kasai folks. Kicking myself on selling that one. The 16mm UO Konig was a sweet little eyepiece, you also rarely see them come up for sale. It is really sad seeing Kasai leave the business but like someone else said, everyone is entitled to retire at some point.

Are you refering to the Kasai HC orthos or the volcano top circle T type? I got a 18 Kasai HC from OPT a few weeks ago. While it is in all other reguards a very nice eyepiece it has a odd spot on axis when barlowed issue and will be going back. David

I think Manish was saying in his original post that the Kasai orthos are still happening. It's the Circle-T (Tani) volcano tops that are no longer being produced.
