Hi!
After much hunting around for a dedicated telescope travel tripod, I've decided to go for the Stellarvue Travel Tripod.
I hope to test it before vacation time in February 2013. When I do, I'll post my notes here.

That tripod looks similar to the one used by the discontinued Orion Skyview mini.

Can you buy that one? There's no "quantity" option on the SV tripod page for that model.

Maybe available only to Vic's "Allstars". 
I saw it listed preorder at OPT for $199, I assume the $249 price includes the mecca column. That combo seems a bit heavy at 18lbs to be called a travel tripod.
