Occasionally, as the view would briefly improve, I saw the fine festoons projecting toward the equatorial zone from the NEB. All the features are there: darker SEB core, lighter NEB features, and especially the albedo in southern temperate and polar regions. I'd bet you had a great view despite the seeing. I was having fun observing last night. It is so unusual this late in the year. I would assume that is because the limb of the moon blends into the planets bright cloud tops. Also the view of the moon dances in average seeing so it's difficult to tell if is is non-round. The moon does bounce too much is average seeing. Even in near perfect seeing there is a tiny bit of distortion. But, it does indeed appear just a hair out of round. One would never notice it with Io alone, but if Europa is in the same FOV, give it a look. I believe you can see it's not quite circular. It's not that it's obviously elliptical, but it just does not have that clearly circular disc Europa has. That's how close, that's how tough the observation is. But, it can be done.
