Specifically Nov. 17 at 11:30. Ganymede was off the limb but too far to include in cropped area. This is the first one this year made while observing through my Televue 70mm refractor. Seeing was 5/5 and top magnfication was 120x. In the past Ive seen more details on this planet with this scope, festoons, barges, projections and such but this night it was a pleasant if simple straightforward Jove. Impressions visually were "hmm half thye SEB is gone and I kind of knew why, then closer ispection yielded a pale but certain GRS. BA and such wasnt anywhere to be found. The 70mm usually provides simpler views but they are always so proper and refractorish I love all my outtings with this scope. Thanks. Wow, really wow... The colors are just like I'm seeing in my scope. Beautiful rendition for a small scope. You captured the EB in a way I have not been able to accurately draw it. It is very broad, at times it appears to take up most of the EZ width. I have been meaning to show that better, and decided to from last night's observation. But, getting it just right is difficult without making it too thick. Beautiful! Informative too. There have been several occasions where the SEB appeared as it does in your sketch and I've chalked this up to less than perfect viewing conditions. I wonder how many times I've missed the GRS when it was right in front of my face? Jeff I so hope you get better seeing LOL! Stray the GRS can be a little challenging in challenging seeing. With my 70mm I've seen it disappear completely or merge with the SEB then the swing clears and it pops out tho softly. Under great seeing that scope can really turn out a fair view festoons and all. Using such minimal aperture can really force your mind to see things a little differently. I love my 72mm ED, although I have never sketched with it. Your image is what I see in that scope when I cant have my larger newts at my side. And yes, despite the diminutive aperture, there is something so clean and tight regarding the image through a fine, small refractor.
