I just wanted to share a simple jig I made to help me accurately point to Santa's Workshop before I attach my wedge. I used a 1/4" piece of plywood and precisely bored two holes for T-nuts that I picked up at the Depot. Two less things to lose in the dark. I glued a strip of wood at the north end to align the compass. No nails next to the compass. And I picked up a nice hiking compass, $20, at REI with an adjustable Workshop pointer. I deflect for my 11 degrees, point the tripod, and off I go. I have seen a gent on Youtube that use a something like Procompass on his tablet to align with, between by iPhone and iPad, the best I've ever seen is +- 10 degrees. With this jig, I'm within two.
