Has anyone used Orion's 20x80 MegaView binos? I am seriously considering these binos, but i've heard good things about Oberwerk's 22x100mm binos too. They certainly are cheaper....more bang for the buck. I have Orion's Paragon XHD tripod thus mating their MegaView binos wouldn't be a problem, but would Oberwerk's? What mounting would I need to do this? Thanks in advance everyone!
Clear skies.

NW,
I cannot speak from first -hand experience , but I suspect close scrutiny of many posts on this and other forums would probably lead you to the conclusion that of the current crops the Oberwerk STANDARD 20 x 80s seem to represent about the best bang for the buck.
Some opiniate that the Oberwerks might well actually outperform the much pricier Orions.

Thanks Kenny. I am starting to think that you are correct. I admit there is some "slop" with Paragon XHD tripod, but I can live with it (for now). So what I really need to learn then is what mount will hold the Oberwerk binos with the Orion tripod.

The Paragon Plus XHD is not a good mate for the 22x100s. For one thing, it's too short. Even the paragon HD-F2 is taller and it's not quite tall enough.
But more important, these are really big and heavy binoculars. When I had my 20x80 deluxe mounted on my Paragon HD-F2, I had to tighten the altitude knob with a pair of pliers to keep it from slipping under the weight. I did use it that way, but any slightest touch of the binocs on this tripod, and stand back and wait for a while till it stops moving before you can look through it.
It's my normal practice to use mounted binocs for viewing without touching the binocs. With this binoc/tripod setup, that would be a requirement.
I did use the Paragon plus XHD base with a pgram mounted to it. That worked pretty well. But not for the 20x80s. They're to heavy for any standard pgram. And remember the 22x100s weight more than the 20x80 deluxe.
Check out the Best Of thread on mounts and tripods for some ideas on what might hold a 22x100.

I read the "Best of..." threads as you suggested. Thanks! I should have done that earlier instead of asking questions that were already answered. After reading those threads and other reviews I purchased Ober's 22x100 binos and the Bogen/Manfrotto 3221WN tripod with the 501 fluid head. I said, "Oh, the heck with it!" and did it. The Paragon tripod is fine with the 7x50s I've have, but based on testimonies here and elsewhere, I felt compelled to get the sturdy Bogen gear.
