Does anyone know if the new Atlas mount can run EQMOD software like the old one. Has anyone bought one of these and tried it out? Any reviews??

It looks like that the new Atlas uses the same hand controller as the old one, thus I think the EQMOD can control the Atlas Pro AZ/EQ-G.

Jon,
My best guess is the Atlas Pro's (AZ EQ6) new intelligent motor controller now supports the superset of the original EQ6 commands (which was designed originally for GEM mount's GOTO feature only.)
The new set will add
- read worm zero position (for PPEC)
- read back (true) encoder delta position (not related to the simulated microstepping positioning)
- set different tracking speed on both axis(in Alt-Az configuration)
So the handset will have to be smarter (new firmware) and
the new EQMOD family of software modules will have to be improved to take advantages of the new commands.
Of course, I guess, the normal EQ6 mode of operation most likely will still work (with new enhancement unused.)
P.S. the Az EQ6 manual in Skywatcher's website has the newly added command set.
