What is this Alt-Az ?

I have this old Alt-Az mount that was given to me by an elderly friend, and I was curious about its origins. Like maker and age.

I believe you are right. It looks like a Unitron mount to me.
Here is an add from the CN classifieds. The add is for a Unitron mount. The two look similar.

Yes, it seems that you are correct in it's identity. The photos that Zach found look pretty much the same. That was a nice gift from your friend. I don't know much about the Unitrons other than they are loved by many and valued. It looks like it could be fun. Thanks for sharing.

It appears to be the style of mount supplied with Unitron spotting scopes rather than astronomical telescopes due to the single upper bolt, and also similar to photo tripods for cameras. Here's a link to a Unitron 80mm spotting scope on a similar mount, though gray in color.

Because it's black and not the gray of the photo in my previous link I'd guess it dates to the 50's or 60's, or the same time as the other Unitron stuff you recieved from your friend. Folks in the "Classic" forum may be familiar with this model.
