The B+W UV Filter report
      #5554284 - 12/04/12 05:04 PM Attachment (55 downloads)

Looks like the the B+W filter combination 486+403+415 is pushing out a super narrpw 393nm peak at 3%. Although there is some IR bleed, This combo is very useful in my book. Now I know why the baader planetarium k-line filter gives prominences with this setup. It blocks the infrared bleed and provides high transmission on the kline while attenuating everything else.

I am now trying to get a 1 nanometer graph as a final determination of how narrow the band really is. I Will update this post when I hear back.

"where do you get these filters"

I suppose that would be useful information. I get them from adoramacamera.com Cheapest on the net.

You should also make note that if you tilt the 403 filter to about 10 degrees you will slightly change the cutoff value of the red bleed, while it simultaneously increases steepness of the 400nm slope.

A very interesting combination there Apollo. It is all the 'slopes' that give us that magical CaK transmission. I will have more of a play round with this when the sun finally returns to the northern hemisphere.

Hi Apollo, did you ever get the 1nm plot?

Mark

Clever idea, do provide some images of the result... See how it performs.
