I'm going, but I take my lodging with me (motorhome), which, because I hit NEAIC the two days prior, Crowne Plaza allows me to stay in the parking lot. I'm in the process of moving, so I don't plan to buy anything that won't fit in my pocket...

I haven't seen any mention of it except here in your post!
Wanted to go past couple of years but circumstances always got in the way.
Not a long drive for me from Long Island. Shoot, it takes me the same amount of time to get to Brooklyn!

Got my room a couple months ago at the crown. I will be there for all 4 days. Believe it or not, I just made a purchase today of a new scope I will be picking up at NEAF in April.

Bad luck of the Irish, I'll be moving by the end of the month.

I just booked at the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel on Rt 17 in New Jersey, for Friday and Saturday nights. I’ve never stayed there, but they have good ratings. They are sold out of “NEAF rooms”, but I got a very good rate anyway. Google Maps sez that it is 13 minutes to the campus, and 2.5 hours from my house. I expect to get there early on Friday to help set up the Kopernik Observatory booth.
I had tried at the Crowne Plaza, but they are sold out of everything Saturday night, but still have 6 non-event rate rooms for Friday night at a much higher price. I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in NJ one year.

If you need a room for NEAIC or NEAF at the Crowne Plaza call the hotel it's self at (845)357-4800 not the 800 number. The people at the 800 number are brain dead.if when you call and they say they can't help you ask for John.

I tried that. The 800# folks claimed that they had 6 rooms at the full rate only. The desk folks said that they are completely booked, even at the full rate!

Nice to know. I might have to go “the back way” via Airmont Rd, etc. However, I don’t expect to be doing local travel during “rush hour”. I expect to be going to the campus Friday afternoon, and early Sat/Sun morning after breakfast at the Airmont Diner, while returning Fri/Sat evening after eating.

I booked a room the day of he show last year. My mom passed away and I cancelled the 4 days I had. I was able to come on sunday so I called the front desk saturday and they said several rooms opened up as customers cancelled at the last minute. Maybe I booked my own cancellation, but I think there is more than one room opening up with no shows. I got the NEAF Rate.

I just booked at the Crowne Plaza for Friday 19th but could not get Saturday night. Will have to travel light because I will have to bring my bag to NEAF. Hoping to get a room in the Sheraton Mahwah for Saturday 20th though no answer on the phone just now. First trip to NEAF (from Santa Fe, NM) and am wondering how I get there (no car). Obviously I fly to either New York or New Jersey but have to work out what next.

I worked it out. There is another hotel as close to the show as the Crowne Plaza but more motel-ish called the Howard Johnson Inn and I booked that for Saturday night. Public transport involves flying in and out of Newark Airport, using the AirTrain to get to and from terminals to Newport Airport Rail Station and then traveling on NJ Transit trains to Suffern Station (then taxi to/from hotel) changing at Frank R Lautenberg Secaucus station. Newark Airport Station to Secaucus takes 14 mins, Secaucus to Suffern Station takes about 50 minutes. Real complicated and I think Saturday and Sunday AM is all of NEAF I will be able to enjoy.
