I recoiled a bit from my surprise at how far back she was positioned. We'd hoped that they'd be popular outreach EPs, but this probably isn't realistic. But for us, we really do like the effect and will eventually try them on all the objects. Plus, after usin these, any other EP is a breeze. Training wheels with benefits

Neither do we use the eyecups.

I bought a pair from Surplus Shed. Didn't believe what everyone said here about the view being hard to hold. Well, it is, even seated. The jury is still out on this for me. I think I would be happer with a mid-20mm wide angle pair, other than the RKEs.

If possible, get hold of a pair of 24mm Panoptics. They are just simply amazingly easy to use and with their 68 degree AFOV, provide the widest TFOV possible in a 1.25" binoviewer. Tele Vue has them marked down at the moment for their sale. Not exactly inexpensive, but worth every cent.

I have an old 22mm Panoptic. Would it work as well, assuming I can find a mate? Alot cheaper since I only need one, and it would be used.

I much prefer the 24mm Panoptic to the 22mm Panoptic and here's why:
Check this comparison photo
24mm - weight: 08.2oz field stop: 27mm
22mm - weight: 16.0oz field stop: 25mm

For binoviewing, I really don't think they can be compared. The dual barrel is a real turn-off with the clicklock eyepiece holders in the MarkV, not to mention the diopter adjustments.

the 28's are just plain awesome in a bino. Yes they take a little patience to get the eye placement right but the reward is tremendous.

Really, that good in the 8" SCT? Can't afford the 24 Pans, but have a Meade 24 SWA that I could double up with? Maybe too fat to merge them though?

actually if you like a similar but less fussy view, try the edmund 28 plossls. Not the floaty feel of the rke's but a really nice comfortable view.

Anyone have the old TV 26mm plossols they use in a binoviewer? I have one of those and wouldn't mind pairing it up if I can find one on the used market.

Ira, I have a complete Bino set of the TV Pls. and they are excellent in a Binoviewer. In my TV BinoVue's they pose no Issue, but in the cheaper (smaller CA) WO, Orion, Etc, the 26mm+ F/L cause some Vignetting.

I find the 21mm to be outstanding (not sure why).

Also, No need to worry about Vintage. My TV Pl. are all "NJ's", but I have used/mixed NJ's, Circle R, and "unmarked" with no Issues.
