I know someone who used it for exactly what you have in mind. EQMOD.. put maybe 15lb on it tops, should be great. Not much cheaper than the Atlas, but much lighter, which does matter. The iOptron iEQ30 would be comparable and is a more modern design. But no EQMOD. On the other hand if you're going for DSLR grab-and-go (no PC) imaging, the more advanced handset of the iOptron might trump EQMOD. I just sold the only "light weight" tracking mount I have (AP800). The minimum setup and take down attracted me to this mount. I hope this one is a keeper as some others have stated. This mount and the Orion autoguider should be perfect then. Sounds like it can take all that I want to give it. Ordering one soon. Don't need it before Christmas tho'. And then there's Astrotrac and the like. So yeah I'm going for the Orion Sirius EQ-G Gt I think. Depends on you. It's a little less manageable in that regard than a CG5, but not much. IOW, not in the grab and go category for me (for me that is a StarBlast), but it might be for you.
