i want to take my etx 90 out of it's mount and use some rings and a mounting bar to put it on my atlas. is this going to be hard to do? take it apart, that is? i looked over the mighty etx site and went blind with all the little letters. i kind of don't care about being able to put it back together as i've already turned the tripod into a base for my binocular parallelogram mount.
eta---well that was easy enough. 4 little allen screws, a little body english and it popped right out. and it has two mounting screw holes on the bottom so i won't need the rings. cool.
The 90 is easy. Remove the four rear screws. The trick is to pry out one of the trunion plates away from the rear of the tube and chock it so the screw seats are out of their recesses. I use half of a clothes pin as a wedge/chock. Then pry out the other and pull the tube out to the rear.
The 105 and 125 with the aluminum frames aren't as easy as the frames are rigid. But the same technique works.
