It can be for either a Altazimuth or Equatorial type mount. I am not picky. I just want to be able to attach it to one of my surveying tripods. I have two surveying tripods here. One is a David White and the other is a Northwest. Both have a 3-1/2x8 thread for the Transit. I can get an adapter to make it a 5/8x11 thread if need be. I then use an off the shelf bolt of the right size and a big flat washer, the mounts own bolt with a washer and a wooden spacer also works. I can't remember if they are on their website, but I have contacted them before about making mount adapters. Ken Duzat (sp?) used to be a good source but he has since stopped producing components. Another place is Crawmach Machine, try getting in touch to see how much they would charge for making what you need.
