It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge, which becomes easier as we approach the winter solstice. A few sharp eyed North Americans may sight the little more than half-day-old Moon on December 13th. Many more will have luck the following evening.

Photos and descriptions of the young Moon would be welcome additions to this thread. Please include your location, date, time and time zone.
Below is a link to a photo that I took from Arlington Heights, Illinois of the Moon aged 1.4 days with Mercury and Venus above it on 2008 DEC 28 at 17:05 CST.

I observed the young December Moon at sunset today with my naked-eyes and later with an 8x42 binocular. I also took some photos.

Thanks for sharing your fine photo, Neil. I realize that being near perigee makes the Moon appear larger than usual, but I would not have expected it to have been that huge.

I grabbed some more , just came in and transferring pics, (and warming up my hands) telephotos can do that
