Jupiter Dec. 10th from Az. new

The seeing was not good . Almost didn't image at all when first seeing how bad Jupiter looked on the moniter. I noticed a large dark spot below the NEB,seeing calmed enough to take a couple of RGB sessions. This is the best image I could process showing an interesting large blue festoon coming from the NEB, the dominate feature in this image. Thanks for looking.

An IR 742nm image. Even more pronounced in IR.

Very good result Frank! Well done! I find it amazing you were able to achieve an image this good. You even got the NNTZ little red spot. It was too windy here, so I only carried half my stuff out to the backyard, and then later packed it back in.

Glenn

Thanks Glenn! Like I said I almost packed in as well but I saw the black spot coming in to view "strike maybe". Were it was located I knew a large festoon was more the answer. Still an interesting feature I thought. I was hoping maybe you or Paul had better seeing and could of got a better image, I guess not. Thanks again!

Frank can you provide the time for either of these images? That feature is really something, I'd like to get a fix on it. Thanks!

Glenn

Glenn images were taken around 04:45UT and 05:00UT which was 9:45 PM to 10:00 PM our time. Looking at Freddy's first set of images from Dec 7th shows the "Shark fin" like festoon. His are much sharper caught in better seeing.

Thanks Frank! I think I'm seeing the same feauture tonite as well. Sadly the seeing has turned poor (after being halfway decent earlier) as the thing was getting nicely presented. Anyway its really dark in IR like you noted.

Frank, excellent image considering the seeing. Your processing results are always smooth even under these conditions. Thanks for posting

Steve
