First Jupiter image since opposition - first in December, really, since it's been that cloudy. Temp was -15C - just about at the limit of equipment and man (or woman). This is a combo of several images de-rotated with Winjupos. I discovered after the first few that there was lots of frost on the corrector - on the inside! So that took a bit of work to evaporate. Funny seeing - the image was very steady but blurry and low contrast due to the jet stream. I was just glad to get imaging over with and back into the house. Image on 12-12-12!

Wow, nice work Rolf with those conditions! The seeing you describe is sadly too common in the wintertime, steady images does'nt always bring detail.
I guess we are a bunch of girlymen down here when 4C seems like torture! Sorry girls!

Oh my gosh Rolf, 5 degrees F! How do you operate the laptop trackpad when you have to wear gloves? The image itself is a real triumph over adversity, very nice!

Thanks. My wife has special gloves for an iphone. Maybe they would work for a mousepad too. I just use my bare hands though. It starts to get tough at -20C, but not impossible. Somehow it is less annoying than dealing with mosquitoes in the summer.

Rolf, awesome image! Color and detail look great. It may be time to open the new bag of handwarmers... Thanks for the post

I just started using a hand held track ball mouse that can operate the laptop's cursor while wearing a light pair of gloves. Here's how that looks:

You are a hardy bunch up there! When it gets to 0C here (not often - I don't even own a coat!) I have to use 3 pairs of socks, several layers of clothing and take numerous breaks! Love your dedication Rolf!
Pete - nice tip!

I'll take the mosquitoes any day over -20C! Great image though. Good memory of a very interesting calender date.

Here's another one using just the best 5 images. The first uses 7 but 2 were with the corrector frosted. I think this is a little sharper (but still not great).
