saw an advert for them and I wonder if they're still MIJ or if they're MIC now. price is pretty low (compared against the Atro-Luxe 18x70's), so it's made me wonder. I've been wanting a premium pair of 70mm's for some time.
thanks

I've never heard anything to indicate they aren't still made in Japan as always. I know mine are...
Be aware that the eye relief on the 16x70s is short enough to cause problems for most eyeglass wearers. Eye relief is only about 10mm effective. They have a pretty wide focus range, though, so unless you are astigmatic you can usually focus without eyeglasses. The eyepieces are also quite large and some folks have trouble fitting their nose between them at the narrower IPDs.
Yes, they are a "best buy" compared to the Nikon 18x70s which are running around $1500+ now. Some folks like the smaller eyepiece size , little bit better eye relief and slightly wider AFOV of the Nikons; you just have to pay the price!
The Fujis have "flat field" eyepieces so are a bit sharper towards the edge than the competition. It all boils down to if and how they fit your facial features and if you can see the whole FOV or not.

yes, all FMT/MT line still made in Japan. Probably won't be long before it's outsourced to China though!
How on earth Fujinon are still offering the 16x70 for the price they are in the US is a mystery, they are now 931 UKP from the UK dealers ($1498 USD) so grab them while ya can!

Here in the UK it's a little less than the 16x70 at around 850 UKP.
What are bino/scope prices like down under teelgul? Hope for your sake it's cheaper than here.

Fujinon 16x70 is around 1450aud from dealer. A swaro 12x50 is around 3000+/-150 AUD .not too many dealers for premium equipment but importing not economical unless one's picks it up plus of course warranty issues..
