Geminids and sporadics

Do all of the meteors from a meteor shower have to be traceable back to the radiant? Tonight's Geminids were so strong. Just amazing, seeing multiple shooters crossing the sky at the same time, meteors coming as quick as one every 5-10 seconds. Many of these were moving toward the radiant or at least not traceable back to it. Far too many to just be random shooters in the sky. Hence my question.
