The only motor I can find is when you buy the kit for R/A & DEC combined. Why would I need a DEC motor?

Hands free control. Shoestring astronomy has a kit to convert the control box to auto guiding capability.
The important thing is only power it with the battery pack- no voltage protection.

You don't need a Dec motor for visual. This RA Drive is what I use. It is a perfect fit for CG4.

Rich, I'll have to look into that a little more. Eric, that price is not that much less than the full kit. crazygame, is there a link for the USA. I did a search and most go to the UK. ???

Orion is in the US. Celestron mount model designations are a PITA The Celestron German mount #4 is everyone else's EQ-3, Their CG-3 is a EQ-2, etc. You might find an EQ-3 RA drive for $10 less than Orion. It's from Synta and sold elsewhere. Telescope Warehouse has some Synta made Tasco drives for the Vixen Polaris mount. They should work on the CG-4, which is sort of a copy of the Polaris.

@crazygame: do you or anyone else as far as that matters, know if you can purchase the Synscan EQ-3 Go-To system separately without the mount and tripod? I already have the CG-4 mount and tripod.
Thanks! Gary
