I would appreciate having suggestions about techniques used by others to make a good experience for new members. What works? What ideas can you suggest to make this organization effective for all ages? I've taught astronomy and used this telescope often, but need help to make an effective regional club. I will appreciate any help you can offer. If not, see if they have a STEM coordinator and network with them. I would start by doing public observing nights at the university. Do some with the moon as it is really popular. Do nights on Saturn, Jupiter and DSO's. At each event, have a signup sheet where people can enter their email address and phone number so you can contact them later about volunteering and future events. A club should be FUN. Our club has "chair's" that are appointed by our Executive. Elections often result in hurt feelings, political 'groupings", and do not further the fun of astronomy. Not saying this works for everybody, but it has worked well with us. We set our board of directors up on the "Carver Model", which gives the CE broad powers.
