Stacking Gen1+ II Tubes new
      #5581935 - 12/21/12 06:40 AM

Since I'm poor (relatively speaking) and living outside the US (who keep all cool toys under lock & key) I was wondering if anyone had experience with stacking two decent gen1+ intensifier tubes? Is it worth it? Or should I get sensitive camera and not put an eyeball to my scope again?

Thanks in advance,
Cam

I'd suggest you send a PM or email to a fellow over in Perth. His user name here on CN is cj7hawk. He's helped a lot of folks build low cost image intensified viewers using Gen 1 tubes (cascade). I believe the (true) gen 1 tubes he recommends are quite cheap, best to talk to him about this though.

Here's a source of tubes in Australia Brite Star

Here are two UK sources for gen 1 cascade tubes

Interesting concept, though. Keep us "green guys" informed.

Not all gen3 toys are in the US. Export of the lower grade ones does happen and the US sell thier kit to other countries too. Not easy to find, but available.
