This was about as far from the Moon as I could get and still have 4 hours or so to gather data. There was a large variation in background brightness as the Moon sank in the West. Mean ADU values started out around 2400 and ended at 1200.
The Bear Paw (NGC 2537) is 26 million lightyears away and the little spiral to the left is about 500 mly farther out. (Info stolen from RickJ's post of the same object in '08. Thanks Rick.)

Thanks Warren, I have a fascination with the ARPs. Most are small and challenging to image and lot's of them are interacting pairs.
I even bought the book.

Thanks Chris, I'm pretty happy with this one. Kept the stars under control and went easy on the processing. Just some deconvolution on the two galaxies, 'tracked' noise reduction and 70 percent bin to reduce noise even more.
Does look more like a nebula than a galaxy. Some theories are it's two or more dwarf galaxies in the process of merging.

Love the image Mike!
How do you like that book? Was looking at it yesterday on a visit to Powells - they have a HUGE selection of astro books and I had terrible difficulty making up my mind... couldn't so I left to think for a few days. Other candidate was a book on optics.
BTW - if anyone interested I have a link one of H. Arp's papers

Hi Jim, if you are interested in the ARPs, and H. Arp himself, it's 'the' book. Lots of history, locator charts, and inverted images. I keep it in the obs to preview the ones I want to shoot (no internet out there). It's a big 'coffee table' book though, so probably not the best for taking outside. The cover shot is the only color picture.
