Okay, a day early if your a Christmas Day opener but some are Christmas Eve Openers. So the question is what did you get this year to help you in the hobby? This can be from equipment, to eyepieces, to Atlases, to software, to lots of things? I thought the General Observing and Astronomy would be the best place for this.
What did I get? Well I got a ES AR102 f/6.5 refractor; a 2 inch OIII filter and some clothing for winter observing (new gloves, new hat and a few other items of clothing). The wife came out better than me with a trip for both of us to northern California coast next June after tax season.

I picked up an ES 9 100 degree eyepiece. My wife couldn't argue with me about it because I sent her and the kids to Disney in Florida for Christmas. Barry

The Complete Guide To The Herschel Objects by Mark Bratton.
Love it! Outstanding book. Already read the whole text up to the individual observations.
It will be a big help as I go for the rest of the Herschel 2500. I've nailed 1119 of them so far.
Expect a more formal review in the near future.

I bought a TV 41mm Panoptic, a TV 32mm Plossl and a AT 2" dielectric diagonal a couple weeks ago as a Christmas present to myself, does that count?

Nothing astronomically related this Christmas. However, last Christmas (2011) I got the Sue French "Deep Sky Wonders" book as a gift. Other than books (that I suggest when someone asks me "what do you want for Christmas), the people within my gift-exchanging set aren't knowledgeable or well-situated to select appropriately useful astro gear.

my sister in law got me The 100 Best Astrophotography Targets by Ruben Kier and a 2013 calendar by terence dickinson. my sister gave me a check for the last payout from my mother's estate so i'm thinking of getting myself an 8" Edge hd from celestron. very confused about what camera to get. bought an orion g3 and a celestron neximage and sent them both back.
