Hi, i am looking for some binoculars to use in astronomy. Nikon 8x40 has adequate exit pupil (5mm), eye relief (17.2 mm) , weights 30.1 oz. and it's price is $ 140.
I donīt know if they have good optics and also their differences with Nikon 7216 Action 8x40. Do i have better options ?.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I haven't tried the Action Extreme binos, but I have an Action 7x35 with very good optics. I tried an Action 8x40 at a local shop and was equally impressed.
Some people say that the only difference between the Action and the Action Extreme is the waterproofing, but others say that there are optical improvements in the AE. I haven't had a chance to compare them side-by-side. Other than wishing I had gotten a bigger model, I'm happy with my 7x35.

I've had both the 8x40 Action and Action Extreme and the optics are clearly different. The only real downside to the Action Extreme is the increased weight compared to the Action. Most every other aspect favors the Action Extreme.
