Canon 40D central d.s. on Televue 102 f/7, 2.5 hrs. of global integration. At the bottom right you can see a strange star with spikes, unusual for a refractor Here a link at a CROP of a raw file. The spikes are similar to those of a bathinov mask, they appear in all the raw and in one star only. I can't understand.. The other star (HR1950) is very interesting indeed! Usually it doesn't give headaches... I am still suspecting that it might have to do with Alnitak. In my attempt, there was a strange reflection approx at the same distance from Alnitak, though it was not on top of HR1950. Look carefully right below Sigma Orionis. No matter what this turns out to be, this is a great image. Colors are a little bit pushed but I think that the overall results is extremely good. I have the same star effect as your in all my sessions and just only on a single star at bottom left of the images. This is probably due to some dirty stuff on the Baader filter.
