maintenance old C90 one-arm mount
      #5590271 - 12/26/12 08:38 PM Attachment (13 downloads)

Hi All,
I've been enjoying my new aquisition, an old Celestron orange C90 MAK, on a one-arm mount. The azimuth on the one-arm mount is starting to have too much free play, even with the clutch lever locked down tight.
My project this weekend is to disassemble the base to the mount, and see about tightening up the free play, but I don't see how it comes apart.

Any pointers on how to disassemble the base to the Celestron C90 one-arm mount?
thanks, Phil

The image reminds me of the mount for my C5+. Perhaps service info for that might be relevant. I don't have such info, but there is at least one website dedicated to it, in fact more than one:

http://www.pietro.org/Astro_C5/c5_nexstar.htm
http://www.astunit.com/tonkinsastro/c5/c5.htm

Perhaps you can find some useful info there.

Those C5s are different contruction and come apart differently.

Start with the center bolt on the bottom. Then the lower casting can be removed. Check that the bolt hasn't loosened up. This may be your problem. On reassembly care has to be taken to get the bottom of the AZ axle seated properly in it's recess in the bottom casting.
