Excellent images! I was away for five days and missed a lot but I have gone through the images and some of them are great. As usual, Tel's processing skills are once again on display.
I have done a few mosaics and find the outcome pretty good!

Here is an image of M1 I obtained it last evening . It was taken with a stock Nexstar 8SE Alt,AZ on it original tripod on my deck at -18 Celsius . The image is a stack of 97 ,14 second exposures processed by Deepsky Stacker and then Pixinsight software. I am very happy with the original Nexstar as it performs well in the cold(when those clear cold arctic air masses settle in.

Thanks for posting

Neat M 1. I could hardly get the outline from my light polluted yard but you got this on an Alt/Az which is great.

Have to agree with the above comments by Haseeb, its a tricky target this one for short exposures, so i`m amazed you got so much detail using just 14 second subs, the filiments are coming through nicely, so very well done nomosnow

Tom.

Amazing amount of data for the exposure time used, nice round stars, despite the use of an Alt./Az. mount, and a good test of the performance and durability of these 'scopes at very low temperatures !
Excellent job, Nomosnow !
Best regards, Tel

I have converted my PDF on making M42 into a friendlier HTML format:
http://alexpostastro.blogspot.com/2012/12/making-of-orion-nebula-m42-photo-wi...
I have seen a few pictures recently on this forum that look amazingly similar to single frame shots I have done a couple of years ago. I hope that a few people will realize how close they are to making images that are visually stunning with just a few more steps. The hard part is getting these seemingly bleak pictures collected. Just a few more minutes with the free astro software will reveal a plethora of hidden details from a series of images:

This is funny Alex, because I've begun to think about how to get a decent Orion Nebula shot with the regular 6SE set up I have (Alt-Az) before I start considering a GEM. I forgot about your original post for Orion and seeing the two pictures that are actually the same thing gives me hope again. I was able to get this single shot of Orion two years ago with the 6SE (about a 35 second exposure) and I see now that there was WAY more detail and data in that image than I even realized.
Looking forward to pushing the limits of the Alt-Az! My wallet and sanity thank you in advance.

Tim, I'm really enjoying the small Nexstar's AP performance I think that it does bring AP back into the affordable range. I surprise myself sometimes with what kind of detail is available with as stack of 20 or 30 second exposures stacked and processed can produce. Be Well Grey

A wonderful image Alex.
Curious to know how you tease the details in the 2nd image out of the first. Lots of processing obviously, but what have you done. Have you kept any details?

Hi Haseeb,
The presence of the CLS doesn't appear though to have had any marked effect on thr excellently detailed quality of the image !
Great stitching too !

Thank you Tel. I removed the bluishness by converting to B/W.
While the above one was from a DSLR, this image was taken with Neximage by shooting short clips of 20 secs each consisting of some 333 frames and overall shot around 15 clips. Then stacked each clip with Registax 6 and then combined them all for a stitched image thus so. To obtain the full picture of the half moon ( which I didn't ), I had to shoot maybe another 20 odd clips. But I like this result too.
