NE Ga star parties?

I just got into the hobby and would like to find some quasi-local events in the NE Ga region. Unfortunately all that I see in Ga is the Alt area club and the PSSG. Anybody here know of anything that goes on in my neck of the woods?

The North Georgia Astronomers tend to do their observing in the Dahlonega/Gainsville areas so you might try them. Friendly group. Can find on Yahoo.

Not sure how close you are to Deerlick Astronomy Village located in Sharon, GA.

It's the same location PSSG is held at these days. The observing field is open all year round for a small fee. You can join their yahoo group to get details on camping fees.

They also have a spring party, I think it's in March or April called the Zombie Star Party. Not very well advertised and very low key, no frills event.

I read on the UGA observatory page that there are public nights at sandy creek park. Anybody had any experience with that? That is a bit closer to home.

I am looking for a place to spend 5-7 days observing after the Winter Star Party. Could motel it or camp out.

Any suggestions. Already checking our Deerlick.
