Ray's Bracket compatible with Newer OTA?

Hi All,
Anyone know if you can use the Ray's Bracket (already have one) to mount a newer 8 inch OTA (like maybe an Edge HD) to my nexstar 8i? Was not sure if the holes on the OTA part of the Ray's Bracket would line up with the newer OTAs

Hi Dan,
Well yes, I had this plate plus clamp made up for me to adapt my 4" refrractor to my Nexstar 8i mount's "Ray's Bracket".

Hi Tel,
I was hoping you would respond. Hope all is well...
Almost irrational, but I really like the Nexstar 8i mount. Got to thinking how sweet it would be with an Edge Hd OTA. Not sure if I will do it. Probably more cost effective to buy a CPC 800 HD....but they start getting kinda heavy. Thanks again for the response....

Potentially another way is to mount a pair of vixen clamps to the Ray' Bracket that attaches to the arm of the 8i mount. Something like these:
Vixen Clamps
then just clamp to the dove tail on the newer OTAs

No problem, Dan, pleased to help.
And at the risk of incurring the wrath of 6SE/8SE owners, I am also convinced that these last of the US built 8i mounts are significantly better constructed with better materials than ever the Synta produced mount is. It's faster in the slew, smoother and far, far quieter.
But further to your thoughts on Edge 8HD OTAs versus CPC 800s, how much heavier is the HD OTA than the 8SE's ?
Certainly if the weight is not that excessive and the 8i mount will support it on a modified Ray's bracket, then with any possibility of future imaging in mind, I would opt to carry an Edge HD on the 8i mount for viewing, with the option of transfering it to a GEM when required. (As was my (biased  ) decision some years back) !

Forgive me Dan, but I forgot to acknowledge: yes, thank you indeed for asking, Hilde and I are fine. I likewise hope you and yours are faring the same.
Those Vixen clamps are virtually the same as I employed; the flat side being attached to the RB plate whereas on the other side, the clamp is there to receive the Vixen rail.
In my case I only found it necessary to use one clamp but if you feel two might be needed ....

Looks to be 1.5 pounds heavier and part of that may be the finderscope that comes on the HD as standard equipment (not clear if it is included in the total wieght) .
yes that was my thought. Use the Nexstar 8i for the visual stuff and (if in the future I want to do some imaging)a Gem for imaging...
