Ordered my PointGrey Blackfly Friday Dec 21st as soon as I got the email from PointGrey indicating it was finally released.
I was not expecting to get the camera before new years. It arrived on xmas eve
Boy, is this camera ever small. I'm almost afraid to use it in case I lose it... it's that small.
Not sure if this is the right place to post but the Blackfly is to be used with my Lunt 60THA B1200 so I'm taking a chance. I bought the GIGE version and now I would like to purchase a very flexible network cable about 15 to 20 feet long. I live in Canada and I image from +30c to -30c so I would like a cable that remains somewhat flexible in -30c. I don't care about cost, I want a flexible cable.
To all the network gurus out there is there cable brand you would recommend. A link to a purchase site would be awesome.
Thank you

All network cables I have can't handle even -15 C without becoming solid. I think that if there is something for low temperatures it's not that gray/white plastic used for cables. (look for something odd-looking)
BTW. I'm thinking about one of e2v based cams too. Those chips are really nice (and big).

Yeah I don't know of any Cat 5/6 cable designed to do that.
Maybe think of wraping that heating tape with the wire in it, the kind used to keep water pipes from freezing or some kind of dew heater strip really really long type application.

I think heat wrap is asking for electrical interference.

This would be flexible but may have too much noise!

I found this cable, temped to give it a try. It's rated for -20c to +60c and 1000Mbps still.

In all my years of computer networking, I've never given much thought to the performance or physical properties of twisted pair at low temperatures. Is there any documented experiences or concerns at low temperatures? Most cables, even long ones are cheap, I would say if it's just breakable at low temps but performs, then just buy a few cheap ones?!
Let me know how you find it and post some photos soon!

On the PGR site in accessories you can find cables for GigE. My 5m one is good for cold weather.

Please post your initial first light results and thoughts. I've been pondering over this camera as well, but am nervous about using CMOS for solar.

Micron CMOS is not all CMOS You can check for example here: http://www.astrosurf.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/037433.html where they tested that e2v sensor with a big Lunt.
