Greetings all,
Suddarth Optical Repair will be hosting another binocular repair - Mark V collimator class. Dates so far are the week of February 4th thru the 8th. That's Monday thru Friday, approximately 40 hours. This class is for the person that wants to learn the Mark V to collimate binoculars. Classes are really small, so I can gaurantee many hours of one on one time on this instrument. Have some seats for this class in February. Kevin Busarow. (Big Binoculars-Oberwerk) will be our celebrity student. I'm sure this will be a fun class with a diversity of information!

For the hardcore binocular fans on Cloudy Nights, I highly recommend this class. I had the pleasure of a full week of one-on-one with Cory and the Mark V collimator, with many hours of tail of arc method alignment on a wide range of sizes and types of badly misaligned binoculars. Even after 13 years of selling/testing/repairing binoculars for a living, I learned a lot- well worth the trip to Oklahoma.
I've always referred customer requests for non-Oberwerk repairs to Cory. After seeing his work first-hand, I will do so with even greater enthusiasm and confidence in the future.

After spending a week with Cory on the Mark V, I was inspired to build my own collimator out of a military surplus 11" aerial photography lens. Also purchased a Suddarth auxilliary telescope (serial number 4), with extra-tall rhomboid, to peek over 100mm binoculars.

Wow, that really looks good! Nice job! Ha, fabulous auxillary scope ta boot! Does that play out pretty much like the Mk V? I mean does the image look like it does on the Mk V?

Yes, just like the Mk V- except mine has that huge central obstruction.
