Hello,
I propose you a drawing of the Pleiades cluster made with my Skywatcher Equinox 80 mm. I was very glad to see clearly some nebulae around bright stars.
This is the link for the drawing in good resolution: http://a406.idata.over-blog.com/3/65/43/22/dessins-md-2/M045-L80-md.jpg
I take this message to wish you a great New Year 2012!

Boy my friend. You told me I'm good at sketching the sun, but let me tell you this sketch of the Pleiades is simply jaw dropping ! ! ! I just can't believe it's a sketch. Totally beautiful. Look at the faint stars in the sketch and the nebulosity. Wow... Woooooooooow. Congratulation my friend, I'm more than impressed, I'm speechless.

Super Laurent, you combine good optic and talent. I fully agree with Andre. Do you use a filter like UHC or OIII ? With you all a good end of the year tonight.

It's already a long time on my to do list, but I never had the courage to sketch it... But you did a really fine job! Is it a completely digital sketch?

Thank you my friends ! There is no need filters for these nebulae of dust, UHC or OIII not work because it is not ionized gas. We just need a clear transparent sky and an optic wich does not diffuse the light of the brighest star too.

It is at the origin a drawing made with a pencil. With Paint Shop Pro software I do an inversion for the black background, I touch the brightness and shape of certain stars that I have not been able to do well round with the pencil, and I erase the pencil stroke too strong (to make my nebulae more smooth). This is a lot of work but the result is a more realistic that a pencil drawing crude.

Really nice attention to detail. The bright stars really pop out against such a dark background.

Terrific observation, Laurent! You've captured the visual representation of the nebulosity quite similarly to how I see it in my 85mm binocular. Nicely done.
