First time posting in this section. After 40 years of astronomy I have finally decided to take the plunge and buy a solar scope.
I have no more than $1000 for this purchase and after a lot of research, my options appear to be limited. I have narrowed it down to the Lunt LS35T Deluxe Package B600. With shipping and taxes, I will be under $1000.
Just wanted to get opinions on whether there is anything else I should be looking at. I like the build quality of the Lunt, and I am not sure if the PST is an equal.
After Lunt and PST (Meade), are there any other manufacturers I should be looking at?
Thanks

The Lunt 35 is a nice scope, I have the deluxe package myself. Just remember the bandpass for the Lunt is 0.7 but the PST is 1.0 Angstroms, so you will get a better filter from the get go. F10 on the PST and f11.5 on the Lunt. Other manufacturers? Daystar, but those are quite expensive, and none of the equivalent aperature.
Also keep an eye out on the used market as well, the PST are showing up quite regularly for $400-600, and once in a while the Lunt 35 does appear. I got a Lunt 60 tilt tuned for about $1000 shipped to me, so there are deals to be had out there.

I have a couple of Lunts and I am a fan - I have no experience with the 35 but I imagine they are great bang for the buck. Good luck and enjoy the Ha Sun!

I have, since almost 2 years, the Lunt 35HaDX B600 and I never stop to be amazed how much Ha details I can observe with just the aperture as an ordinary finderscope on the sun.The prominences are really stunning.

Right now I have both the Lunt 35 and the Lunt 60. Both basic packages. The 35 is every bit the equal but not any superior to the PST in regard to the eyepiece experience. There are mechanical differences and there the Lunt wins. I have compared both side by side.
The L 35 will show proms better than the 60. The 60 shines at showing surface details.
