I've always wanted to photograph NGC 2170 (a beautiful complex of reflection, emission, and dark nebulae), but I never realized it was so close to Barnard's Loop (the red hydrogen ring around Orion). All images I have ever seen of 2170 are very close-up shots. So.... I created this 2 panel mosaic that features both. I fancy the red "profile" of Barnard himself examining the comparatively diminutive NGC 2170

Great composition and processing. I've shot it before but never realized that it was so close to the Loop.

Thanks. Yes, I was very surprised that I could not find a single image online that showed NGC 2170 with the Loop (except maybe some extreme wide shots, in which case you can't really see 2170). It almost touches!

Thanks a bunch folks! This one was a lot fun to process. I find I really enjoy images where I can combine a lot of HA with the "natural light" of RGB.
